Saveetha Medical College was established in the academic year of 2008. The college has been approved by Medical Council of India and it offers programs at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The college also offers Research programs. These programs are offered under various specializations. Candidates, as per their interest, can opt for the specialization. The main aim of establishing the college was to provide medical education and scientific research opportunities to the students willing to pursue their career in the medical field. The students here are trained in evidence-based medicine and empathy. One of the achievements of Saveetha Medical College is that the college has been ranked 3rd by The Sunday Indian among top medical colleges. The college campus houses 20 departments and manages to provide all the basic amenities to its students. Primary facilities provided by the college include well-equipped library that has 1500 books and journals. The books in the library are of the latest edition and informative. The campus has been enabled with Wi-Fi, thus making information accessibility easier for the students and staff. The students at the college are trained by conducting various activities, that eventually help enhancing their skills. Activities such as soft skills training, team building activities, and industrial visits are organized by the concerned authorities of the college in order to make them learn. Saveetha Medical College and Hospital Architecturally built with spacious roomy interiors in three blocks with five floors, a total of 4 lecture theatrers with a seating capacity of 200 each and one auditorium that can seat 350 students, all of which are equipped with state of the art audio-visual projectors and air conditioning. Demonstration rooms with smart board facility are a part of each department apart from the laboratories and museums. Saveetha Medical College Provides Stationery and medical stores, the animal house and the research department are a part of the college campus. The indoor auditorium is a well-equipped piece of infrastructure which can seat more than 1000 people and has audio sounds, visual projectors the completely covered air-conditioned is the venue of choice for conferences and cultural activities. SVMC Kanchipuram provides 49 courses across 4 streams namely Medical, Pharmacy, Science, Paramedical and across 5 degrees like BSc, MS (Surgery), MD, MSc, M.Ed. Saveetha Medical College Campus facilities like Academic Zone, A/C, AV Lab, Auditorium, ATM, Boys Hostel, Canteen, Computer Lab, Convo. Hall, Counselling is also there.Saveetha Medical College and Hospital Central library is a depot of knowledge and information with over 15,000 books on an excess of subjects, not only academic.
