Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Medical College (BRAMC) was established in the year 1981 in Bangalore and is run by Ananda Social and Educational trust in Bangalore.
The Ananda Social and Educational is providing good education, which is the dream of SC and ST and underprivileged people.
This Educational Trust has a rich experience in the Medical education field, College and School of Nursing, College of Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology and Radiography, and Dental College.
Ananda Social & Educational Trust (R) was established in the year 1980 by a group of likeminded people belonging to Scheduled Caste with the aims and objectives of promoting and imparting professional education in the field of health services to underprivileged and downtrodden people of the society. The main motto of the organization is to extend maximum assistance to economically weaker sections of the society. In accordance with its aims and objectives, the Trust established medical college & hospital named after BharataRatna Dr.B.R.Ambedkar during the year 1981,which is situated at Kadugondanahalli area (near R.T.Nagar) in the northern part of Bengaluru city with a intake capacity of 100 seats to Under Graduate (MBBS) Course and Post Graduate courses in 18 disciplines. The College is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and recognized by National Medical Commission (erstwhile Medical Council of India), New Delhi. The Trust has also established a dental college in the name and style of Mathrushri Ramabai Ambedkar Dental College & Hospital (1986), Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute of Nursing (1988) and Dr.B.R.Ambedkar College of Physiotherapy and Allied Health Sciences. Infrastructures & facilities: The College & hospital is located in a lush green 25 acres of land in the heart of the city, attached with 750 bedded hospital, separate hostel facilities for boys & girls, staff quarters within its campus. The college & hospital is closely accessible to the main railway stations (Bengaluru City, Cantonment & Yeshwanthpura), Bus stations and Bengaluru International Airport. The hospital having a capacity of 750 beds, equipped with latest equipments, qualified and experienced doctors, nurses and technicians is providing quality health services to the poor and needy and general public round the clock. The hospital is also attached with fully functional Pharmacy, Blood Bank, Central Laboratory / Radiological diagnostic services with latest equipments viz., Digital X-ray machines, MRI, CT Scan machines for providing diagnostic and therapeutic facilities 24 X 7. The College & Hospital along with its staff has always joined hands with the respective Governments during the health emergencies like pandemic break out etc. Academic activities: The College is imparting quality education to the students by a band of eminent / senior teaching faculty in accordance with the curriculum of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and National Medical Commission (erstwhile MCI). The College is also having well established digital library with latest reference books and national and international journals which helps both faculties and students to attain higher knowledge. For promoting academic awareness among the faculties/ students, the Scientific Society of the College is conducting periodical clinical meetings and presentations of research / dissertation work. The Medical Education Unit is also actively supporting in organizing seminars, quiz competitions, state level annual conferences and related programs for continuing medical education (CME’s) regularly. Research papers have been presented at National and State Conferences and published in important journals, which resulted in our students consistently come out with flying colours in the university examinations scoring top places with distinctions. The overall average results of our college stands between 75-85% every year in both under / post graduate courses. Many of our students have represented the college in outdoor / indoor sports and cultural activities at University / State / National levels and have brought accolades to the college, which really reveals the encouragement to the sports activities.
