Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) was established in the year 1986 at BG Nagar, near Sri Adichunchanagiri Kshetra with a vision of providing medical education to aspiring students from rural areas.
AIMS was inaugurated by the then Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri Ramakrishna Hegde on 17th Jan 1986 in the holy presence of Padmabhushana Dr. Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji. AIMS has evolved into a prestigious institution in the region since its inception.
The college is located around 96 kms away from the state capital, Bangalore. From Bajpe Airport also known as Mangalore International Airport at a distance of 251 Kms around 5 hours travel. This Medical College is located at 107 kilometers from the city Railway Station and just 104 kms from the central bus stand.
AIMS has enough Examination Hall and separate common room for male and female students with attached rest room and cafeteria.
Lecture theaters to house the sufficient number of students and is equipped with high quality acoustics, independent audio visual assists including LCD projectors, Speakers and also a microphone.
Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences built a centrally air-conditioned Auditorium with a seating capacity of 2000 with a span 2986 sq.mts. In addition, AIMS has a Examination hall Seating Capacity is around 380 with 2468 sq.mtrs.
There are 5 Lecture Theaters in the college with gallery type and the capacity of 4 x 180,1 x 350, A-V Aids are available and one in Hospital with the capacity of 4 x 200, A-V Aids are available.
The Learning Resource Center is situated in the eastern part of the college building and the physical space of the building is 2936.00 sq.mtrs.
AIMS Library total collection is 19926 in that total number of books is 19398, Number of PG Dissertations is 528.
Total number of Journals both print and online is 683, Current Subscription of Print Journals is 145, in that International is 75 and Indian Journals is 70. Total number of E-Journals is 538.
Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences AIMS has separate hostel for both boys and girls inside the campus itself.
Similarly separate Mess for UG girls, boys and nurses, PG Students and Residents have common Mess Facilities.
Hostel Facilities are includes Visitor rooms for both UG Boys & UG Girls hostel with T.V.
AIMS college Residential quarters are provided in the campus for both Teaching staff & Non teaching staff total of 400 quarters are available within the campus. 160 quarters are available for the teaching faculty and 240 quarters are available for the non teaching staff.
The college has Separate Canteen facilities available to provide good and hygienic food products, both South Indian and North Indian foods are available. For Sports activity it has Large Playground and well constructed BGS Stadium for outdoor activities like Cricket, Football, Athletics, Volleyball, Kabbadi and more games are available in Indoor games like Table Tennis, Chess, Carom and Badminton.
